Trilegal, set up in 2000, is one of the top five law firms in the country. It was set up by four NLSIU graduates with the aim of breaking the glass ceiling of family firms and establishing a firm built solely on the ethos of merit and professionalism.
The firm has been involved in several complex and high-value transactions, and its client roster includes many of the world’s leading corporations, funds, banks and financial institutions. Trilegal along with Linklaters LLP advised Vodafone in its multi-million acquisition of a 67% stake in Hutchison Essar Ltd., a leading Indian telecom company. Trilegal along with Davis Polk & Wardwell also advised the joint lead managers Barclays, Citigroup, DBS Bank and Deutsche Bank on the $200m Rolta Singapore fundraising. The firm also advised Standard Chartered as lead arranger of a $7.5bn acquisition facility and a $2bn bridge facility for Bharti Airtel’s acquisition of Zain’s African telecom business. The firm is known to provide its clients with seamless, efficient and integrated service across a broad spectrum of practice areas including Corporate M&A, Private Equity and Venture Capital, Energy and Infrastructure, and Banking and Finance. Trilegal has, over the years, become the exemplar of a modern, progressive and equitable new generation of Indian law firms.
In the year 2015, Trilegal and the National Law School of India University joined forces to host the National Law School – Trilegal International Arbitration Moot. For the past two years, this collaboration has been extremely successful and has harbingered the commencement of a new phase in the growth of this moot.
